What is Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is a first-in-class dual receptor agonist medication that mimics two hormones – GLP-1 and GIP. It works by:

  • Slowing down digestion
  • Stimulating insulin production
  • Reducing sugar production in the liver

How to Take Mounjaro

You can inject Mounjaro into your abdomen, thigh or upper arm. We recommend alternating your injection sites to prevent irritation. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Select your injection site
  2. Clean the injection site
  3. Remove the cap of the Mounjaro pen and attach the needle
  4. Turn the dose knob until you hear two clicks
  5. Turn until you see ‘1’ on the pen
  6. Insert the needle into the injection site
  7. Push the injection button and hold for five seconds
  8. Remove the needle
  9. Dispose of the needle safely

Am I Eligible for Mounjaro?

Mounjaro is authorised for patients with a BMI (body mass index) higher than 30, or a BMI over 27 if you have a weight-related condition. Criteria may vary based on ethnicity. You may be eligible if you meet one or more of the following:

  • BMI above 30
  • BMI above 27 with related conditions (e.g., diabetes, hypertension)
  • Other clinical factors advised by your healthcare provider
